A mother plant is any plant that is kept from entering the flowering stage of growth. A mother plant is purposefully kept under long periods of lighting (18-24 hours) – forcing the plant to stay in a vegetative state its entire life. By doing this, the plant continues to grow, clones are easily taken and the genetics are preserved. Any clone you take will always be an exact genetic replica (same genotype and phenotype) of the plant it was taken from. Mother plants provide a great way to harvest new clones for future flowering rooms.
